Planning Vail For The Summer: It’s Not Just About the Snow

While Vail, Colorado is famous for its beautiful snow covered slopes against the backdrop of the third largest ski mountain in the United States, it is probably not the first place that comes to mind when planning your summer vacation.

Perhaps it should be, though.

If you’ve been looking for that perfect destination holiday to be the cherry on top of your summer – one with plenty of outdoor activities, breathtaking views and culinary adventures that will leave you talking about your trip for years to come, then look no further. Summertime in Vail is loaded with unique activities (how about some whitewater rafting?), beautiful accommodations that will leave you feeling pampered, and enough tours (try the Vail Valley Food Tour) to entertain everyone – from the most experienced traveler in your family or group of friends to the biggest homebody.

Do a little research before coming

One of the most important parts of planning that perfect Vail vacation is taking the time to make sure you book your transportation and accommodation well in advance. Do a little research. Vail is home to some of the most beautiful views in the United States, and you’ll want to make sure that you find the hotel, resort, or condo that will welcome you back at the end of each long day in the style that suits you best – be it luxury, simple comforts, or a combination of the two.

Once you have found the perfect place to stay, take some time to think about the unexpected events that sometimes come up while vacationing. If you are travelling a long way to get to Vail, make sure you take your time to look for the best rates in travel money or traveler checks. It’s also a good idea to find a travel insurance best suited to the type of vacation you will be taking. While you can’t plan for everything that might occur away from home, you can plan for some things. The more secure you feel as you travel, the more you will be able to relax and enjoy yourself.

Plan on letting someone else do the foraging for food

Before coming to Vail, you should consider the way you would like to spend your time. One of the drawbacks of going on vacation to an unknown city or area for the first time is not really being sure of what there is by way of food or restaurants. Tourists spend hours of their precious holiday time looking for a restaurant they want to eat at – often finding themselves disappointed or spending far more than they expected for a meal they could have made better themselves.

The restaurants in Vail use some of the freshest ingredients available – it would be a shame to miss out on the incredible tastes being created because you didn’t know where to eat. With this in mind, companies like Vail Valley Food Tours offer three hour tours of some of the best restaurants Vail has to offer. By scheduling a tour of the restaurants in the area right at the beginning of your vacation, you will be able to sample a bit of each of the finest culinary treats and decide which you would like to return to over the course of your holiday.

Outdoor activities abound

There is so much to do in Vail during the summer! Whether you’re interested in mountain biking, road biking, hiking and backpacking, rafting and kayaking, horseback riding, golf, fishing and hunting, or tennis – you’ll not only be able to find a way to do it, but odds are you’ll also be surrounded by some of the most breathtaking outdoor landscapes and perfect summer weather you’ve ever experienced. By taking a look ahead of time at what you’ll want to do when you arrive, you’ll be able to experience more and make sure you don’t miss out on something amazing.

By putting a little time and research into planning your trip to Vail, and by booking tours that will do the footwork for you, you’ll be able to relax from the moment you step foot into your new home away from home. Regardless of how much time you spend planning, though, with all there is to experience in the beautiful Vail Valley, you’re sure to have an incredible vacation that you and your loved ones will remember for years to come.
